After his professional training as a photographer, Sylvan Müller concentrates on reportage work in among others Chernobyl, the German Democratic Republic, Ethiopia, Japan and Istanbul. In 1996, he cofounds fabrik studios with two friends and his brother. They make a name for themselves with highly precise but playful stills and work with with renowned studios in New York and their own in Switzerland for international clients. Nowadays, Sylvan Müller is working on his own again on projects dear to him. Among them food and drink and the pleasures and stories associated with them. His pictures are characterized by a unobtrusive, immensly reduced style and have been published in numerous internationally acclaimed books. His cookbooks are not simple how-tos, they are rather lovably designed accounts of people working their magic in kitchens and sitting at tables, indulging their culinary obsessions.
